Here is a easy freebie to tape onto a book or a gift for your students when they meet you on “meet the teacher” day.
I usually have my students do a meet the teacher scavenger hunt. At the end of the hunt the students come to see me for a book and a family picture.
I love my classroom volunteers! They help me reduce my to list and that is so valuable to me. I make sure to keep track of my volunteers throughout the year, and I send them a little thank you at the end of the year.
I just went to the 99 cents store and picked up these cute glasses. I found all the yellow candy I could and filled each glass. Its thoughtful, adorable, cute, and easy.
My students have been having fun with the winter themed units so far this month. Here are a few things that went well.
These were the books I focused on for my winter unit.
We worked a lot on retelling the book The Mitten.
We made retelling bags.
We made a class book with this template.
Here are the units I used click on them to link to my TPT store.
I made individual rekenreks for each student. These tools helped with their addition so much. I have putting this project off for so long. I am so glad I did it!
We also are working on teen numbers. The students match the quantity to the number for practice.
Click on the file to link to my TPT store if you want this great teen number matching.

Finally it was time to bring a little snow to this las vegas desert! I covered the room with plastic and poured insta-snow all over the ground. The students worked all day in the snow. Talk about exciting!!!
More winter wonderland photos.
On our snow day we made “good stuff” snowmen. We were inspired by the book Snowballs by Lois Ehlert. The students brought in anything they could find from their junk drawers and created their snowman. This project is a hit every year!
Now on to peace week and to celebrate Martin Luther King. Stay tuned!
What are your goals for 2016?
I want to blog more for sure. I want to learn how to make my blog look cute and inviting which I am a little unsure about how to do that at this point.
I want to take more pictures of my classroom for the blog.
I want to not get wrapped up in work drama. In the summer and the beginning of the school year I am so motivated and happy to start teaching my new students! Then the work drama seems to start….. So and so is mad at so and so…. Ugh.. It’s easy to be pulled in and forget why you’re there in the first place.
Stay organized! This always seems to be my goal! At home and in the classroom. I will never fully be organized, but I will always be working on to better myself in this area.
Make more stuff for TPT! I love making my own stuff, but once I am teaching everyday, I tend to forget about my TPT store. I want to make it more of a priority. Probably less TV is the answer, but I can’t not watch my shows! How do you balance your favorite shows and making stuff for your store?
This is a BIG one! I will not try to be like other teacher bloggers/TPT sellers and compare myself. It just brings you down when you are trying to be like others or compare yourself with others. I will not do that. I will be myself and not worry if anybody reads my blog or buys my stuff on TPT. I will not worry about being the most creative or the best teacher. I will not worry about who likes me and who doesn’t like me. I will just be myself and remember to breathe and enjoy my life.
I am excited for 2016!
Welcome! Yay we had a great 2nd week!
We had another successful week in kinder this week. I had a lot less crying which was great! The students are really getting into the routines well. I am ready and excited to really start diving into the curriculum next week. Here is a peek at our 2nd week in kinder room1. I hope you had a great week too!
